After more than 17 years in the retail firearm and gun repair business, Tom and Laurie Foster closed their retail store, Shooters Mercantile and took their extensive inventory of shooting sports supplies to the internet.  
   
The desire to have business goals which fit their personal priorities of quality family time and a healthy future prompted the decision to make the change.

After graduating from the Colorado School of Trades, specializing in Gunsmithing, Tom started his one-man gunsmith repair shop in a small town in Oregon,  For ten years he repaired and restored guns and, with the help of his wife Laurie, sold guns and accessories at gun shows in Oregon and Washington.  In 1996 they opened Shooters Mercantile.  Shooters developed into the premier gun store in the area with retail sales of guns and accessories, an indoor range with over 500 members, gunsmithing services, classroom instruction and a Law Enforcement sales division.

Running a business can take a toll on working owners, and for Tom, a paraplegic who has been confined to a wheelchair since 1981, the toll was physical.

With the formation of Lone Oak Trading, Tom has continued to utilize his extensive experience in the field my managing the internet based business selling firearms, gun parts, accessories, collectible items, fishing gear and trapping supplies and lure.
